Digital menu: from chalkboard to screen in five minutes

The chalkboard has one advantage: anyone can change it. Your screen should be just as easy. No designer, no agency, and nothing ends up out of place.

What you need

A screen with HDMI, either one you already have or an inexpensive new one. An Amazon Signage Stick or our lumafy Screen with the app pre-installed. And a lumafy account, which you can try free for 14 days.

Step 1: Create an account

At start.lumafy.de you enter your company, name, email and password. We do not ask for payment details. Confirm your email address and you are ready to go. Choose the restaurant industry pack and the menu, daily special, weekly menu, drinks menu, allergens and buffet sign templates are already there.

Step 2: Connect your screen

Plug in the stick or switch on the lumafy Screen and start the app. The app shows a code. Enter it in your account. The screen is connected.

Step 3: Fill in a template

Open the “Menu” template. Instead of a layout you see fields: dish, description, price, allergens. Enter your menu and save. The screen usually picks up the change within half a minute.

Tip from practice: Give the daily special its own template. Staff change it on their phone in the morning and the main menu stays untouched.

What it costs

lumafy lite costs €18 per screen per month, excluding VAT. That includes all templates, hosting on servers in Germany, updates, support and monitoring of your screen. The trial is free for 14 days.

Why nothing ends up out of place

lumafy is not a page builder. You do not edit a layout; you fill in a form in front of a finished template. That is why the menu looks exactly the same after the tenth change of daily special as it did on day one.

Try it with your menu.
